WHAT SETS US APART

With over 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer, Mr. Kahn is able to work effectively and passionately for each client he undertakes to represent. He promptly communicates with every client regarding pertinent developments in their cases and the legal issues involved, and continues to problem solve while working vigorously to achieve the solution that is best for them, whatever they decide that may be.

Mr. Kahn’s background is unique not only in his many years of success in the employment law field, but also in his representation of both employees and employers. This experience spans well before litigation of legal claims, starting with advising:

  • Employees on their legal rights, including how best to face intolerable work situations, be fairly treated, get workplace accommodations for disabilities, and take legally entitled leaves of absence for pregnancy, health reasons, or to care for family members (and be properly reinstated). When employment ends, he counsels on potential wrongful termination and discrimination claims. If severance is offered, he helps employees fully understand the offer and negotiates a better result when feasible. He also advises on how to avoid post-employment claims against employees, such as trade secret violations, breaches of confidentiality, and non-solicit and non-competition provisions. His experience also includes advising on employment contracts and negotiations when initiating new employment.
  • Employers on how to comply with California and Federal employment laws, and how to prevent legal disputes from arising (such as properly disciplining employees, documenting cause for termination, dealing with employees’ disabilities, and ensuring that employment policies and practices are in compliance with law).

When litigation has become necessary, he has been an aggressive and effective advocate, taking hundreds of cases through mediation, arbitration, agency hearings, bench trials, and jury verdicts. His experience with both sides in employment matters gives him a special perspective that benefits all of his clients.

Finally, as a sole practitioner and owner of his law firm, he is able to spend the time it takes to get to know you, completely understand your situation and goals, and work with you to develop a legal strategy crafted to obtain the results you want and to protect your interests. He carefully selects cases in order to facilitate this individualized attention. For more complex cases, he teams up with other highly qualified lawyers and marshals whatever resources are necessary.
